Islote Reef
30m/98ft maximum depth
Moderate current and great visibility.
Weak-to-average current. Good visibility typical of our southern reefs.
Islote (Little Island) is a coral-rich reef surrounded by sand.
Macro photographers love it for the many colorful reef fish species, the beauty of its hard coral formations and the great variety of sponges.
Numerous soft corals and gorgonians wave gracefully in the current at a reef that has been described by seasoned divers as “what the Caribbean looked like 20 years ago”.
Being so close to the cantil, its sloping wall is frequently visited by big pelagics but its main attraction is the multicolored coral that shelters lobster and crabs rather than the profusion of fish species observed at our northern reefs.
